In most production facilities, it is necessary to separate crude oil or condensate from the water produced. A coalescing and polishing (COP) system’s compact size and ability to remove fine oil emulsions (down to 0.5 micron) make it an excellent choice for treating produced water. To suit the unique requirements of an application, a COP system can be used alone or in conjunction with other technologies (e.g., hydrocyclones, IGF, CFU).

Small oil droplets are more difficult to separate from water than large droplets due to the long residence time required for small droplets to rise in a gravitational separator. Filter Innovations has noted the presence of small oil droplets in many produced water streams and, in response, has developed a COP system to overcome this challenge.
