Ultrafiltration - Turbidity Removal - Product, Systems & Services

UF - Turbidity Removal system is a pressure-driven membrane separation process removing particulates from aqueous solutions such as water.

The system consists of a pressurized module, fully equipped with integrated pressure vessel and end cups. Each module can be mounted vertically in rack.

UF-HF utilizes hollow-fiber membranes made from Polyethersulfone (PES). Each UF module contains several membrane fibers bundled together in a protective PVC housing. Influent water enters the membrane tubes and is filtered against the wall surface.

Filter Innovations has three membrane modules which can be used individually as a single unit (where no additional pressure vessels and assembly are required) or several of these modules can be combined together in various configurations to construct a larger system for customized applications. These modules can be easily mounted and dismantled.

  • Module UF-HF 420
  • Module UF-HF 440
  • Module UF-HF 640

Significant features

  • Effectively removing solids and most microorganisms using nominal pore size of 0.03 micron
  • Resistant to fouling and tolerant to wide range of pH and chemicals due to modified Polyethersulfone, and highly hydrophilic fiber material
  • Mechanically strong and no probability of fiber breakage due to seven-bore structure
  • Increase backwash pressure and velocity due to mechanical fiber strength

Membrane Filtration Operation Scheme

The modules are normally fed with feed water from the bottom and backwashed with the debris water leaving the top port.

The operating mode can be either dead-end or cross-flow; dead-end being the preferred operating mode in most applications for economical reasons.

The typical UF –HF system consists of feed pump, a strainer, a rack equipped with UF modules, and filtrate/ backwash tank.

Depending on the feed water quality, an in-line coagulation unit and a dosing system can be added for chemical backwashing. The chemical backwash system can comprise from a dosing system for disinfection using caustic / acid for cleaning.
